Fanfic Recommendation: Relative Truth

Many writers love to play with the fact that Shinichi Kudo and Kaito Kuroba look so similar that they could pass off as twins.

People sometimes like to think Shinichi as Kaitou Kid himself. However, I don't think he would do since he hates criminals and to wear it... of course he will feel guilty. He is committing a questionable act of thievery. Heh, since his mother is a master of disguise so much so, that Shinichi himself could be just as good without the voice-changing tie if he practiced. As much as DC/MK are very logical, it's still fiction; it can still break the laws of reality such as voice-changing since there is no way one change their voice to that of say Ayumi or even a deep voice like Ginzo Nakamouri (see episode 79) unless you are a man or woman of a thousand voices. Fortunately, Yukiko prefers to disguise herself as women. Not to mention the ridiculously convoluted murders... Seriously.

Summary: When your highest goal is the pursuit of the truth, what do you do when you find out your whole life is a lie? Kudo Shinichi must face the mystery of his past, but its secrets may shatter all his hopes for the future. And what of Kaitou Kid...?

Review: To date, this is still my favorite regarding the Kudo's and Kuroba's. Sure there are flaws such as Conan/Shinichi seeing the kids as nuisance when he grew fond of them over time; I like to delegate his impatience and his rocking sanity though and the fact that these major characters like Agasa and Ai won't learn anything yet. At least the author is aware that many characters are kept out of loop. There are several flaws that I could see in DC like Shinichi's parents. Yukiko and Yusaku are always off somewhere not really helping Shinichi on searching the BO. The story also heavily explored Shinichi and his issues, showing his character development from the series (arrogant showoff to humble and gentle boy, saying stuff that sometimes lets the murderer break down into tears). Kaito even said in the story that Shinichi can even understand people's minds.

It's not a perfect story but that's how it is. It's a great story that deserved its fans and reviews.
