Progress Review: Thieves Can Be Heroes

You people already know my opinion on the Persona series and MHA so let's go forward!

FFNet. Summary: Izuku Midoriya thought he was down on his luck the day he was convicted of a crime for trying to save someone. As if being Quirkless wasn't enough, how he was supposed to be a Hero with a criminal record? As it turned out, fate had another plan for him.

So basically the Persona series happened in the world of MHA but also in the very same Persona-verse. Because the Persona-verse goes space-time continuum level of madness.

While there are certain canon divergences (Shiho staying and the Illegals' activity), it's still P5. Major events will still happen.

Barring the Kaneshiro incident probably since, in the MHA-verse, the yakuza are gone. Literally with Chisaki's arrest. Maybe Chisaki or a Hero would up being one of the major targets instead of on the ranks of Madarame and Shido.

While the P5 calendar of events has to stay in a strict schedule from the targets to the social link to the Christmas Eve Apocalypse, I don't know what the Illegals and the MHA would do.

Additionally, by the story's end, please add the Shadow Operatives. The Shadow Operatives could be a Hero Agency but a strange hero agency at that since they picked those who only have not quirks but rather have a Persona. And they combat the supernatural when others like All Might and Eraserhead could not. Think of them more underground than even the underground heroes and villains like Eraserhead. And they don't even score on the board or anything. Every one of their workers has a day-job but has so much experience in fighting Shadows and the supernatural that it's a given they are far more likely to take on gods than All Might. And they are saving the world far more frequently than these heroes just fighting criminals who used their powers for the wrong reason.

Listen, Nyarlathotep could and will destroy everything All For One worked for in a second. I know it because I saw how he is during his appearance. Messing with All for One's mind would be so easy for him.

Well, Izuku...Be glad that you are part of Persona 5 than any other Persona flagship titles.

If you were in the original Persona, you will fight against the Snow Queen AKA Nyx and temporarily Nyarlathotep with Kandori. You were stuck basically in one city because it was cut off and new heroes could not come in to save.

Because if you were in Persona 2, you will fail to save the Earth from Nyarlathotep. Because you aren't part of the adult team that did save the Earth from being destroyed...

Onto Persona 3, you would save the Earth certainly but at the cost of your own life. The thing about P3 was accepting one's death while living life to its fullest extent. I'm sure you don't mind sacrificing your life to save the world and acted as the barrier between Nyx and Erebus but goddamn it's playing right into your self-destructive habit of saving people at the cost of yourself. Minato/Makoto knows this and did it too but never at self-destruction. Izuku must learn self-preservation, not to kill himself for the greater good which would go against the theme of P3. He must live while accepting death. His acceptance of death is not like Akinari or Shinjiro or Ken or the rest of SEES.

While Persona 4's protagonist survived, he's in high school. UA is a high school and I don't think Yasogami High has a hero course. I don't think Gekkoukan High has a hero course, no matter how rich it is. In fact, I don't see any Persona-user in any of the flagship titles choosing to become public heroes when they had other interests. It's not that they aren't heroic but because it's simply isn't them. They are good and moral people certainly and had standards. They would save people, regardless of one's history and will treat people with human decency. You might be saving the town from a serial killer and later the world from a god but I doubt you would want to stay like this. They had dreams and hopes that they can achieve on their own merits.

Besides, Persona-users are different from Quirk-users, mainly that it's not a power that anyone can get like candy. You quite literally had to be broken to have potential - the more visible the mask, the visible the persona. A persona is a mask to protect yourself. To be an actual Persona-user, you have to accept the darkness in your heart and have your power that darkness instead of the darkness powering you. Additionally, Quirks have a limit, Personas don't. Sure they had a limit on the stresses of your mind - SP/HP but they are easily revivable with items and spells while you basically had to wait out until everything's in order because Quirks are biological functions. I literally fought one boss in P3 for nearly three hours. I was just damn lucky I was efficient with my items and SP. Sure, there is 20% of the population who won't have quirks but if and only if they were broken, then they have potential. There is a major difference between gaining a Quirk and Persona; in one of them, you must literally be broken...while the other is a biological function.

For example, Aoyama would have potential and he would certainly accept his Shadow in one try instead of rejecting it because from what I saw from him, he won't even deny it since he was willing to talk about it to Deku. Normal people like Ojiro and Sero won't have any potential. The entire staff at UA won't have potential, not Aizawa nor Nighteye... Probably Nedzu would have potential but I have serious misgivings about him, namely of his misanthropic behavior and that he could be the traitor if the traitor theory is indeed true. I think All Might would have potential, just by the fact he's wearing a mask. Of Class 1-A, those who have potential will be Aoyama, Kirishima, Deku, Bakugou, MINETA, Asui, Jiro, and Ashido. Probably add Ochako and Iida depending on the masks they wear. Momo, as much as I love her, puts up a mask for some time but I doubt she has potential the same way her supposed love interest Todoroki has - listen, I'm not a TodoMomo shipper in the slightest but ship whatever you want. I'm a happy Tododeku shipper alongside Kacchako since I find that pairing more appealing than IzuOcha. Shinsou will have potential too.

Hell, in DRRR, Izaya and Shizuo would certainly make the shortlist of having potential; I am absolutely certain if I place them in the Persona world, they would undoubtedly have potential. Kadota and Tom will not have potential whereas Simon will. No matter how badass I find you, Dotachin, you would never ever had potential the same way Izaya and Shizuo has.

Izuku, you have no clue what is waiting for you in this world. Considering PQ2, you would be meeting other Persona-users who would use mythological figures from Greek to Japanese to Chinese. You have yet to meet Aigis, a humanoid android capable of emotions. It dropped right into the uncanny valley but she's just as real as Morgana and Teddie. You have no clue you just collided with gods or godlike beings at all, demons certainly, but gods or godlike ones like Igor and the Demiurge. You have no clue about the Great Seal and the multiple apocalypses this world even has. Persona-users are the only type of people who can fight against the godlike beings, not the Heroes. Not even All For One would be able to stand against godlike beings who can quite literally kill him on the spot and I do mean on the spot. Nyarlathotep could manipulate his darker tendencies and unleashed on the world what All For One can do worse than he was usually doing. Nyarlathotep could also kill All For One easily. Philemon can do the same as does Igor. Demiurge could also kill him, Izanami could kill him, Marie could kill him...  As gods, they are basically higher than any human, even a human with a longevity Quirk or multiple strong quirks. Nothing could kill them barring the destruction of humanity itself.

Yes, this world has apocalypses in the past...near multiple times for utter destruction but absolutely in one case...where if you were a teen and helping Tatsuya and the gang then...you will fail.

Listen, it's one of the things that make you a Persona-user and stopping an apocalypse at the hands at one of humanity's gods is one of them.

Like for Heroes, you stopping crime, petty or otherwise, although I doubt that they'll be able to stop the crimes that are still there in the real world and would still happen in a world with superheroes. Look at DC/Marvel where corruption amongst the populace and police are still viable.

But the end of the world shit where you have to stop gods from destroying everything. Yeah, Quirks could work but won't make a dent, unlike the Personas where the enemy is more likely to have weaknesses. Quirk-users would tire themselves out.

Let's go onto the world of BNHA.

Hmm... how can I say this? I think to some extent, it's quite dystopic.

For starters, Quirks are raised to a level. Yes, there is good equality for LGBTQ+ individuals - see Tiger of the Wild, Wild Pussycats - but there is the same discrimination. Just look at the bullying at Izuku and the posturing of Bakugou for starters. The Quirkless was bullied for something they can't control and those with 'heroic' quirks are raised up.

Not to mention, something that would fit right in with P5: the Hero industry. There are people who undoubtedly are not heroic by any means, taking it as a job than an act of heroism or using it for other means. Think the Heroes as...not as pros but rather as an auxiliary police force.

Even if Endeavor is not one of the Phantom Thieves of Heart's targets, then a Hero should be one. Since the Yakuza is all but gone in the series, then the Phantom Thieves' target instead of Kaneshiro could be a Hero.

Analyze the Hero Industry. If in the story there are corrupt cops, then they'll be corrupt heroes all the same. The canon of MHA practically had corrupt heroes and treated the job as a job.

Just because they are working against villains does not mean they are good people. The Phantom Thieves had their flaws but like the rest of the Persona-users, they are good people.

Hell, analyze the industry. Crossovers like the CCS crossover and Conversations with a Cryptid did it.

Now consider UA: it's basically a military school. While police schools are self-contained and they don't go to war against people who can bloody kill them in an instant... I don't think a majority had a license for teaching. Some of them can be good teachers like Aizawa and Midnight...but at the same time, they are moreover soldiers going to war against an invisible enemy.

Yes, there will be people who used their Quirks in criminal activity. I am not even going to talk about the League of Villains nor Chisaki in any form in this since it's pretty obvious.

I want to think about the pro Hero industry as an auxiliary force like I seriously wanted to. All Might helped stopping everything he sees including a robbery. However, these Heroes don't seem to know what is there to take about the know-how of policemen, particularly Japanese police.

The Japanese police force has lessons on how to interact which the pro Hero industry clearly did not demonstrate well in that regard. Some might be good with kids - All Might - but others not so much. They can take what it means to be on the field of pro Heroism but in terms of how the Japanese police do their work, they don't know shit.

The Japanese police learned theory lessons. From what we saw from UA, there are normal classes on top of training such as heightening their Quirk's limit/exposure. No lessons on interactions with victims or other necessary lessons that other take. I'm pretty sure they had Hero-related projects in the classes but something like teaching students to calm victims - something that apparently they had to know instinctively - is something that never appeared as appropriate classes. In comparison, Koro-sensei's classroom seemed downright normal because at least he only made sure they were trained in the arts of assassination for his murder and nobody else. Sure they can now defend themselves which is great. But he never wants them to use their new skills for anything but his murder. Nagisa even went on to teach with the sheer exception of his murder.

Sure, UA is teaching these Heroes about their powers but do we see theory classes on how to treat children or victims? Somehow, it must innate for them to even learn the dang thing. Saving them from a dangerous situation is one thing but it's another to reassure them without making them panic. Having kids learning to rescue traumatized victims from their horrible situations - I seriously wonder if I can pretend to merge any of the SMT worlds with MHA so I can see just how ineffective the whole Hero industry is when it comes to the apocalypse - and expecting them to already know. Deku literally had to learn on the job. Sure he and Togata are great with kids but he nor Togata are truly equipped to even go about a police operation that required superhuman powers to combat, not children.

These UA Heroes think they can sniff the traitor in their midst. Listen, just because they are Heroes does not mean they have the skills equipped for that level of investigation. Get the Japanese Special Defense - until it is a national threat, use something like the police force to sniff it out. Even the Persona series does this because the supernatural stuff is usually in that area and does not require national attention particularly for what looks like murder or rumors becoming reality or what just looked like people admitting crimes. Just look at Detective Conan where the Special Defense and the FBI are digging up dirt for the BO. I would totally understand the supernatural stuff where the police nor the nation realized what is happening. But when there is something like a traitor, don't get Heroes, get agents to infiltrate with the necessary skills. I'm more likely to trust Detective Conan's FBI/CIA/JSD over the Heroes any time of the day.

The over-reliance on overpowered spectacular Quirks is also a problem. Now it's probably Aizawa was in the same place as Hitoshi Shinsou and the probable cause of having a new test in mind of different Quirks.

Heroes are raised to another status altogether. Sure they are some good ones with All Might being worshipped for his genuine human decency but there are others who just had the quota.

Now MHA is all about what makes a hero.

I just don't trust the Hero industry in MHA. Yes, there are good heroes who deserve praise for common human decency like All Might but there are others who are not Endeavor or Captain Celebrity. I'm far more willing to trust the vigilantes in MHA than I will the Heroes.

Mini-Review: Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet

And once again, Disney garnered praise without doing anything else.

While these movies aren't particularly great, the two films differed in levels of mediocrity. Like Frozen - which sequel I am not looking forward to -, these two films are just average. Nothing that seems to spoke true like Into the Spiderverse.

I repeat I don't find them great. I find them mediocre at worst - looks at Ralph wearily - and relatively good at best. They have their good moments such as the expansion of Violet and Jack-Jack.

RBTI seemed already dated with references to current culture to its detriment. In fact, it's like the Emoji Movie in that sense. The worst part of RBTI is that it broke the established rules of the first movie and OOC-ness and lack of development from characters from the first film. I would not mind them breaking the established rules of the first film if they did something to justify it. Instead, INTERNET CULTURE takes priority above all else. And what's worst about the internet culture in the film was that it's disjointed and has so many cracks in connection to the overall story. VLD and SU have more cracks than RBTI but let it be known that RBTI does not justify breaking its established rules! In Madagascar, the sketches are at least related to one another in the bigger plot that is the Zoosters' friendship and sometimes personal arc.

There is no logical reason why Ralph behaved as he is as an idiot. He's a complete idiot! The Ralph I know from the first movie is sane and smart. Yes, he went Turbo albeit briefly but he understands the consequences of his actions.

I would not mind Ralph and Vallelope deciding to go their separate ways while still maintaining their friendship as hard as it would be.

What I do mind is why the hell is the writers - which yes, including the original ones like Jennifer Lee - are breaking the first movie's rules so casually.

I know better than to break establish rules but expand them concisely. The rule-breaking in the second Ralph movie makes me cuddle up on my dog.

For fuck's sake, we saw them basically went Turbo without any concern for their original games. And none of their friends are concerned about the Turbo nature. Wouldn't the owner and players realize missing characters? From the end of the first movie, we see Ralph got popular as well as the Kart racing game too so why the fuck isn't anybody doing anything? The owner is not doing anything especially when it was he who expressed concern before. Because imagine if I play a game designed with this character in mind, I expect to see the character. It's like not having Mickey Mouse shaped food in Disneyland. Sorry for the food references but I am craving something like it.

They have one of the flimsiest handwaves about now that Candy Kart is now a democracy but that does not justify Vallelope leaving the game altogether when her face is plastered on the side just as Ralph and Felix's. I thought visits as the ending of the first movie implied.

There are other gaming platforms, don't they know that? Not just on arcades like the original, but also on consoles and the fucking PC! I know this because my cousins are gamers in their own right, not competitive by playing on official grounds but still competent enough to know what they are playing online.

Wouldn't instead Ralph and Vallelope meet their counterparts instead? Like they are the arcade version while their alternates are computer versions especially if there is an online game expansion? I'm sure there are Kickstarter to have these games on other platforms due to nostalgia one way or another.

The movie is written by people who barely understand anything beyond old school arcades. The references in the movie are not as timeless in the previous movie.

Just, Ralph 2 is mediocre and nothing will change my opinion about it.

Like I'm annoyed that it's almost like Frozen but at the same time, I know Frozen is everywhere to the point of annoyance while Ralph is not. I am so not looking forward to the cavalcade of Frozen merch.

Brad Bird, Incredibles 2 might be one of your weakest films to date. Incredibles 2 is just underwhelming. Aside from expansion from the cast - which is good because I want to know more of Violet to name one character - the plot just seemed okay. Nothing too fantastic. Unlike Into the Spiderverse, it didn't have anything new or tight about it.

There is nothing wrong with deconstruction and realism. One Piece increasingly became realistic in spite of its usual running on the nonsense world. However, the realism did not hit you like a damn hammer like SU. There is nothing wrong with subversions but focusing on that would lose any bit of character and personality to your story. Focus too much on that and not on the sincerity of your story would make things die fast just like darkness for darkness' sake which happened to be one of VLD's many, many problems. Had anybody ever told you that darkness for darkness' sake is a really bad idea, Monsantos? Because even Banana Fish, a cynical piece of work, has a glimmer of joy to it. Banana Fish, the anime/manga based on a truly cynical piece of work! The last thing anybody wants is to have everything so miserable that it's difficult to have even a tiny bit of hope.

I expect deconstruction and realism out of Brad Bird's films. Ever since the original Incredibles and Iron Giant, I expect some kind of deconstruction but not to the point it takes over the story. Incredibles 2 seems to be that film.

I understand the saturation of superhero films and just how merchandisable they can get. It's a thing since forever. You can criticize that since I'm pretty sure that the story is lampooning that.

However, the confusing way the story is told - the damn girl! How the hell did she even know that is the real villain or not? We never saw her again in said context - makes his relatively weaker films stand out. I like the expansion of the characters we got with them in new roles such as Bob a house husband. It's not disjointed like Ralph 2. It's better in that aspect. I2 is not a bad film but I wouldn't call it great.

Maybe because Incredibles is in my top Pixar films of all time. Because of my strong love for the second Toy Story movie was when I saw the repetition... Really bad there, writers, are you really that unimaginative that you have to write it two more times in the row? Once was enough but the second not so much. Continue the story just like you saw your peers in Dreamworks. Even the worst sequels in Disney Direct to Video continues the story, no matter how badly written it came out. You technically continued the story but how everything started was noticeable (Woody telling the truth of something, toys turned against or refused to listen to him w/o rhyme or reason, toys transported to another destination and thus trying to escape but was stopped by the Big Bad).

I2, overall, is just fine. Not fine as a beautiful crepe cake or rose wine. Fine as in an okay bowl of french fries.

I stand by my opinion that Ralph 2 is mediocre of the pair and I2 is borderline treading the line of good. Both are not great films. A great film is Into the Spiderverse. Hell, even Teen Titans Go To the Movies is a better film than these two. Yes, it has better writing than the two films.

I just don't get why people would grovel all over these Disney/Pixar films because, in my opinion, they're just okay. Nothing fantastic about it. I wouldn't call the first two Madagascar films any more Oscar-worthy either but at least these films have consistent fun than underwhelming.

The UK!

Now I want to travel around the world with Japan being at the top of my list. I do want to visit England one day with spots like Sherlock Holmes 221B and Sherwood Forest. I would rather have my honeymoon in Spain really than Hawaii. Beach vacations are not my thing.

My cousin would obviously get this since she's a huge Pokemon fan alongside Fire Emblem in the mix.

Really, there are lots of things I want out of a UK-inspired region like dragons and myths because England is a huge place for such a thing that even the Hetalia version of England featured the guy having magic. I really want to see something King Arthur-inspired because one of my favorite books of all time T.H White's The Once And Future King is one of my favorite adaptations of said legendary King.

And the sword and shield should imply the Knights of the Round Table. Hopefully. I just hope to Godoka, it referred to that because I would faint just from sheer joy.

Fanfic Rec: This Bites

This Bites!: Sea Kings, seasickness, sunburns, a 95% genocidal Navy, and more than a million and one other assorted ways to die. It's official. Being inserted into an anime sucks ass...But I guess it could be worse... Buuut I guess it could be worse. I mean, look on the bright side: At least I'm sailing with the future king of the pirates.

I won't mention anything about OP or Oda here anyway since I have past posts to do it for me.

As for Self-Inserts, I know fandom as a whole does not like them. Unless they do something new about it like this fic, SI fics are likely to be just as lampooned as any other fanfic tropes. Even when these writers are having fun and fundamentally harmless, SI fics are not going to be the epitome of plotty fanfiction that was known to be good and well.

It's a semi-serious fic like that Transformers fic Battlesleep. There are so many references to our world's media that not even OP's world of nonsense can make up for it. And that's barely scratching the surface just how cracky this fic can get. I can read crack fics but the best ones tend to the ones which have well-written mood whiplash as well as a serious plot to go with too without losing the essential plot goings. Crack is really hard to do, especially when one is consistent about its crack instead. I make this a thing: levity must happen regardless of a story. Focusing on the dark would just make things worse. I know cynicism and hatred and I know the current state of the world is less than pleasing but just a tiny piece of hope is better than the darkness.

This fic is creative, give it that at least. It started out too usual but give it time. The creativity came not just in the additional members - Vivi would prefer to live in her kingdom and act as their Queen-to-be but alas it was not to be in this fic - but also the very fact Strawhat Broadcast Station exist! I adore how outsiders reacted to the canonical events, building up support for the Strawhats. The world's adoration for the Strawhats continued when they kept saving people from oppression which would not help the Five Elder Stars' plans to turn the world against him or the Strawhats. Again, the reason I prefer outsiders who aren't involved with the mess would give their own perception of said events and reactions thereof. Seriously, the more Luffy proved to be a goodhearted fella who hates oppression and loves the freedom that he will want to have that freedom for everybody, the more almost the entire world loves him and would undoubtedly make him the Pirate King if there is a vote for it. He would be the popular choice while Blackbeard will be the least.

The Strawhats achieved 'precious cinnamon roll' status in-universe. They know they are dangerous but they are also decent people who hate oppression and loves freedom. Luffy, keep being the great man that will break the WG's chokehold.

Yeah, while I love lots of things of this fic, the Strawhat Broadcast Station is an amazing aspect. Because of the SBS, especially headed by people who might be calling Cross a prophet, there are many changes and reactions on the ongoings. Takoyaki 8 became the first mobile sports bar while many became fans of the Strawhats through their adventures and support. Fans actually called in during the Luffy and Lucci fight in Enies Lobby.

Because of these reactions, changes happened. For example, the Tontattas felt vindicated for their hero, Rebecca finding courage far earlier as a result of taking inspiration from Vivi, Sabo regained his memories way earlier, and the rest of the world finding the Strawhats' true character heroic.

Especially now that the guy that transported into an alternate dimension knows far up to Zou. I feared he is not equipped about the Yonko Saga which is starting to get worse. And Cross is well-aware of it, unfortunately.

Due to Cross' actions, things are going awry. Rebellions started well too early as a result of Enies Lobby events. Cross and Robin aired more dirty laundry than ever before, especially Cross who already made it a point to point out everything wrong with the WG. And he read the story! And that's on the big scale.

On a smaller scale, he helped Usopp's self-confidence and did not want to break him during the Thriller Bark events. If you knew canon Thriller Bark, you know what went down. He also motivated Luffy to use his brain more often. He's still dumb, but he's still better than even his grandfather. Due to Cross' influence especially in later events where he sees wits and trickery makes a lot of good, Luffy became smarter, even when it was partly because he wanted to get back on his grandpa and partly when how he sees its benefits.

Just yeah, I worry a lot about the altered timeline. Even if we are still going to have the two-year time skip, I think Cross failed to stop the Summit War/Marineford but I hope to Godoka he saves Ace. Although I think Whitebeard is still going to die though. Knowing the Biblical Jeremiah, Cross is unlikely to prevent the war. I'm sorry, Cross, but even your name points too much in that direction. And I know my storytelling, okay, and the way it's going, Marineford is still going to happen. The reason why I know this to be true? Two things: Jeremiah, the Biblical Prophet and that Cross himself referenced Marineford in a special chapter. Even without the Aokiji accidentally helping Blackbeard, I still think Marineford war will still happen regardless of Cross' intervention. Likely without Akainu to kill Ace this time because Sengoku is trying really hard with the PR at the moment and the very fact Cross broadcasted Absolute Justice, something many sane and moral people will detest, everywhere will make it worst. I think Cross would also broadcast the killing of blood that forced Ace up to including killing pregnant women and babies just to kill Ace. Probably when Ace survived, he can reveal his story via SBS about his side of the story. The backlash would be there and more people would turn against the World Government more than ever before. Cross doesn't know everything the WG did in its time of corruption and dickery - since he did not read the Reverie arc - but he would still broadcast them to his best efforts. I'm pretty sure the true ruler of WG is watching SBS as intently, given just how sane he is in comparison to the rest of the World Nobles.

Although you have many allies from defected Marines, Revolutionaries, and pirates themselves, you have lots of manpower in many good places that could help to save the lives of Ace and probably Whitebeard. I do think Whitebeard is gonna die, revealing that the treasure exists.

So even with the butterfly of doom, in some way or another, it seemed like it tried to correct itself with a large majority of the Summit War saga still on. If you don't get it especially if the story had not hit you on the head with it, Summit War saga will still happen. Differently but still just as worse. Things still happen as in the original, sometimes just more or less worse. Defeating Moria in canon, too bad Moria awakened his Devil Fruit that made him a stronger opponent than he originally was.

Things will go crazy. The authors admit it so really I'm buckling up my seatbelts for the updates. I'm really waiting for the actual Marineford war after all.

...Of all the arcs I look forward to tackling in TB, it's the entire Summit War saga. I'm not even looking forward to any of post-Time Skip arcs, just Summit War. Admittedly, for Post-Time Skips arcs, it's actually Reverie I'm looking forward to the most in TB's adaptation since y'know Vivi won't join the line-up of Princesses that are at Reverie. She would still become friends with them instantly, mainly through their friendship with the Strawhats.

There is minor deconstruction then and there. It's not a hit in the face deconstruction that it is annoying. For example, Cross had knowledge of OP but only up to a certain piece, leading him to make assumptions that can get deadly for his team. For example, Baron Omatsuri. Look, I haven't watched all the movies either and I certainly won't remember all the SBS trivia. I saw Gold, Strong World, and Baron Omatsuri and that's about it when it comes to OP movies. And I never even seen a single OVA of OP. I saw fillers but not one OVA of OP. So I feared so much when I wanted to tell Cross the later arcs, especially Reverie, an insanely plot-significant one which packed so many punches without being too overwhelming.

Like many things, it is not perfect and I can name the said flaws. Hey, in comparison to the really bad works I have seen especially recently in VLD and SU, This Bites look like amazing Caterpiller sushi rolls and maybe add an eel temaki with it too. Sorry but I'm craving that for the moment. VLD started with one or two nice entrees but the more dishes come out, the course isn't worth it when the quality dropped, especially the dessert course that failed to appetize in presentation and just being plain good food. SU started out like that but instead of getting increasingly worse, it's bland instead. Bland as plain white bread without any necessary toppings. Ugh, how I wish to get my hands on a Japanese sandwich...

I wonder if there would be more members joining Post Time-Skip here. We know Jinbei will but who knows if Carrot or even Pudding could join.

I hope Oda and these authors kept their promises about no romances. Ship teases are fine. In WCI alone, we got ship teases with Sanji with Pudding and Nami. And Luffy too. Hey, I found Sanji pairing with men to be much more appealing than the ladies, to be honest. Oda because he saw how it literally tore apart Naruto. The last thing the OP fandom needs is endgames when its fandom is usually very open about its free shipping precisely because there is no endgame. I want it to differentiate from much other shounen and allow people to have their own open ending for their particular ship. Unless it's a romance right from the beginning that you made it clear there will be an endgame. Sure people can ship Sanami and ZoSan and LuSan and SanPud but I have seen that nobody in that fandom hit over the head because Oda made it clear in the beginning that there are no endgames. Just keep that promise, Oda and Cross-Brain.

I need to catch up on my Kingdom Hearts. I still have 3D after all.

Ugh, just knowing Frozen is even in this game. Though from what I heard, a large chunk of Frozen had been cut out including the Han reveal which is thank god. What is bad however is sitting through Frozen's songs which is only two fortunately but I loathe Frozen more than anything Disney put out including the living action remakes which many supposed had no place to exist. Yeah, I rather choose that over Frozen any time of the week.

While my loathing had simmered in the years since Frozen's release, make no mistake that I will avoid the fuck out of the stupid movie. Place me remotely near anything close to that movie, merch or anything food or parade, I will avoid it like my cousin's fear for cats. I will grit my teeth if my little niece likes it but I refuse to have that movie near me in any physical form or shape. If I'm forced to go through it in KH, I will make sure I'll play the dang longer so that the taste of Frozen is out of my mouth. Still, the over-glorification of the movie puts what an average Disney Princess film as a golden benchmark when it shouldn't be. I won't ruin anybody's feelings of the movie especially if you still enjoy it. As for me, I don't like the damn movie and would skim through the world of Arendelle in KH as easily as eating my favorite dish of seafood. I would plug my ears as soon as I reached Arendelle and happily watched as everything goes through with no sound for the sake of my sanity. Because I would blatantly spell out everything wrong with the storytelling of Frozen if I see it again.

That would annoy everybody with me including me. So yeah, expect me to plug my ears while and probably force others to play it for me just because I can't stand the movie.

Sorry for that rant. I'll probably find better joy playing Toy Story and Pirates of the Caribbean and the actual plot of the KH than I would be playing the world of Arendelle. In fact, I'll rather watch any of those movies barring TS3.

I am glad that Zachary Levi got his chance to voice in a KH game after all. He got his wish back when he got the voice of Flynn/Eugene in the end. While I am happy to see many returning cast members from the original return including the Frozen returnees, I thought they would be too busy. Mandy Moore was very busy which is why she didn't come back.

I still need to catch up on KH and I'm starting to get into Fire Emblem due to my cousin's influence who is a huge lover of such. Her go-to in SSB is always the FE characters just as others in my family would choose Lucas and Kirby.

Olympics AU~! or the World Stage~!

Hinata Shouyou, you will conquer the world someday with the National team, receiving Olympic Gold(s) on your repertoire. Considering your progress and ambitions, you are definitely on the road to becoming a nationally recognized figure, more than any other undersized ace from any other school ever. You will shock the Americans and the Brazilians so much in-universe they will admire your tenacity and skill. I will cheer you guys on!

Sports AU was a surprising liking for me. I never had much of an interest in sports because I am terrible at them. The only sports-related stuff I am good at or at least mediocre are martial arts (Tai Chi, Karate, etc.). I hope to take up fencing one day because fighting with a sword is awesome.

Maybe because I can like sports if people just sat me down either by telling me the rules and everything that goes into it (most sports anime did explain their basics along with some spins such as sports psychology in Oofuri's end) or by telling me in a dramatic story (I am quite good with that, considering my goal and I take the time to analyze through anything writing-wise). It worked for me with a lot of sports or games I wouldn't consider playing for the life of me, knowing I am terrible at them. Hikaru no Go is an awesome manga that I will always recommend and it's always on my upper list of sports anime recommendation on board games and altogether with physical sports games. I hoped to write a sports story myself in the future because that is how deep my love for it is. Sure, fairy tales and myths would take more priority as well as exploring alternate dimensions and differences in such a world.

Sports anime rarely go onto the world stage; they will mention it if there are character's goals in mind like Rin Matsuoka. Understandably too because there are lots of things going into making more than just the national stage with payments for loads of stuff like coaches. I mean just look at Hajime no Ippo as an example. There are lots more stakes involved. Olympics or whatever international competition is usually reserved for those who have lofty ambitions to actually make it such as the Oddball Duo, Hinata Shouyou and Kageyama Tobio. This is why YOI is surprising because it focused on the international stage; because narratively, it centered on Yuuri's ambitions to skate side-by-side Viktor, not on his rise to fame as Japan's top figure skater. Seriously, Yuuri is a well-written unreliable narrator.

The Olympics is the world stage, given the acclaim. Even Hetalia gave trivia about it. My family always go to watch the men's swimming events and other events too if they're on. I remembered my brother turning on the TV to play the golf event one time. Now that I think about it, one TV displayed my family's regular channels and the other the Olympics.

Then there are events instated into the Olympic curriculum in Tokyo 2020.

Seriously, though, in-universe, those who would go onto that stage would definitely shock the world with their unpredictability and get that gold for Japan. Japan, in-universe, will be so proud of their athletes. Their family and friends will proudly boast their victory for a long time.

Remember that the timeline in the series is definitely unless stated. What year are they living in? Are Rin and Haru going to participate in London, Rio or the Tokyo Olympics when they make the national team? There are some fanfics that just made these athletes participate in the closest or the future event at the time the fic was written.

Ah... I'm pretty sure you two with your training would get the gold. You would make the Iwatobi Swim Club proud and recognized. Your childhood rivalry would be milked by the media, don't forget about it.

So these are just speculations who are likely to go either on the national or international stage in the sports anime. No, if there is a series that already displayed the professional stage (or at the least working toward that) at that point like Baby Steps, Major and Yuri on Ice, then I won't put on here. I am also disregarding anything that has any kind of international stage for non-physical sports too such as Hikaru no Go where the final arc, the Hokuto Cup arc, was international. Of course, given their profession, go-pros are going to compete internationally one way or another. Even with my limited sports knowledge, I'm pretty sure there are international events. 

Of course, I'm not even putting in Yu-Gi-Oh in this because we already saw how the card game even made it into the international stages already in later series. I still adore YGO, don't forget it but when it's already clear that many players such as Syrus and Chazz would do well in the pros. Even when Jaden is not a pro - surprisingly, given his character development, I don't see him pursuing a route of pro dueling, probably traveling and teaching. It took time-traveling to get back into the spirit of passionate dueling again but I don't think Jaden minded about becoming a nomadic traveler and teaching people to duel. While I am sure Yugi is proud of his title of King of Games, he would be just as happy for anyone to play happily as they used to. Even if it's a worthy opponent who preferred other routes in life. I seriously worried about the health of those playing Duel Monsters in the media because the sanity is so thin to slip such as in the case of Zane. Zane, dear, you should work on your health and sanity before choosing to go back to the pros. While I'm sure the pro world would be dubious welcoming you back, I'm pretty sure Kaiba, Yugi, and Joey would let it slide, given the shit, they went through. And I just know that the future works, just like Digimon Tamers, would make things realistic but also not at the price of what makes YGO popular in the first place. YGOGX kept the spirit despite its deconstruction. There is nothing wrong with realism but when you focus on realism above characterization and plot, it will the story die faster than the speed of light. Just look at Steven Universe, who focus on deconstruction to the point it dragged the story down. Just like VLD which focuses way too much on the darker stuff without anything real and honest about it. It's dark for the sake of darkness and that's one of the worst things you do when writing something dark. 

On the upside, we know that these guys would not take steroids because these people are talented as fuck and they know it. Kageyama and Hinata would refuse to take them because they want hard work and their own skills, not drugs. Although accusations would still spring about though... They would refuse to let their hard work go to waste simply because of drugs. Some might have peer pressure going in but come on, these guys would know right from wrong...depending on their character. I can trust these guys over Lance Armstrong at any time of the day. 

By the way, this post might be updated with more once I remembered more sports anime. 

Daiya no Ace: Miyuki Kazuya, Sawamura Eijun, Haruichi, Mei, Raichi, Tetsuya, and that's what I know. As much as I don't like Terajima's writing of Furuya, Furuya is likely going to go to the pros too. But that guy needs to grow first. I don't know about Chris though. Given his connections, he would likely make an American team. Now we know he hasn't broken it completely, it just would take time for his shoulder to regain mobility to play again. I know Chris doesn't mind it now, given his character development.

These guys I can see going pro just because of their sheer love for it. It's not just because they are so talented they would be scouted. I'm pretty sure people would want Raichi in the pros the moment he could graduate high school. Even when he made his debut, offers would likely come in and Raichi's dad would likely keep track of them if they're still interested as high school goes on.

Even without Sawamura's current goal to be an ace, I'm pretty sure Sawamura would go pro. He, like Hinata, is my sunshine in their series and I will defend their character. No, I am not a stan, but I make this clear that when things go wrong, especially in DNA, Sawamura usually brings a smile. Unlike Haikyuu which stayed well-written in its run, DNA has its dreary days that can only be lightened up by Sawamura.

Haikyuu: Personally, there's plenty of people who could go into the pros. The most who are definitely going to keep playing volleyball professionally was Kageyama Tobio, Hinata Shouyou, Oikawa Tooru, Ushiwaka, Bokuto Kentarou, and that's on the Miyagi Prefecture.

I don't see a majority of the current Karasuno team going pro though joining a volleyball club either in uni or as adults much like the alumnus is still very open. About Nishinoya, I can see him going pro in the future but I wasn't exactly sure. The rest of the cast from other teams I really don't see going pro despite their skills, not even Kuroo or Lev or Goshiki or Aone or Kanji. For Kei's character development, he didn't seem the type to go pro despite his recent love for it. Let's not forget that just because he wanted to block Hinata does not mean he wants to pursue life on the international waters. It's like forcing a talented writer to become a published author despite the author's wishes. Talented lot no doubt, but I don't think they would want to go into professional work. There's a difference between high school/university sport vs actual professional work as a sportsman. Being a pro athlete means more than just time and money.

We know Kageyama's head is always filled with volleyball to the point his dream is to play it on the international field. He already on track to get there too, being invited by the Japan under-19 training camp. Hinata is heading there, albeit at a slower pace because he didn't have the same exposure as Kageyama, who was already known as a prodigy. He is getting noticed during his first nationals and I trust Furudate to take him where he needed to go. Kageyama and Hinata made a promise in the manga to go to the Olympics together. Aside from the romantic implications, it's a done deal from the beginning since Hinata is fucking talented and ambitious. They're a pair since the start of their partnership and I can't see them separating when it comes to volleyball. Except maybe to evolve their training such as in the case in the training arc previous to the Spring Nationals and the Qualifiers.

Is Furudate going to go through the many things Hinata and Kageyama need to participate in the international field? Not just logistically, but with time and money and managers and so forth. Because I think they would have lots of supporters when they graduate. Karasuno would be so proud to see them play in the Olympics.

Honestly, I hope one of the last pictures we see of Hinata and Kageyama is them participating in the Olympics together. Just seeing canonical panels of the culmination of their effort would make me a happy camper.

Free!: Rin and Haru. I will say this: I'm never the one to ship rivals, very rare I do. I shipped Contestshipping (May/Haruka X Drew/Shuu) and Appealshipping (Dawn/Hikari X Zoey/Nozomi) but I certainly don't ship RinHaru, even when the rivalry eventually went to friendly. I don't know even know my thought process for even picking a rivalry-turn-romance.

Now for Haru, I actually didn't see him pursuing a career in professional swimming, no matter how talented he might be. He wanted to be 'free', whatever that means in his definition. I don't think being a pro swimmer would be free. Remember this is my thought before the finale of the second season. I'm still ambivalent, don't forget it, but I don't see the point of it bothering me so much it should take over my life. I have better things to worry about like getting a job.

I haven't even seen the third season of Free yet so yeah, the Free finales don't bother me much anymore since I long since moved on. I already moved forward from VLD so no worries about trauma or long time salt or anything like that. Given that I saw something similar happened to VLD in other forms of media, I'm not that worried about it.

I'm more surprised Free is still continuing well to this day. Is there more to the story? I know that they bought back characters in the movie in the later seasons but I have no clue that they planned more to it. I know YOI would still continue, of course.

Oofuri: Tajima, maybe Abe. I don't even know about our star pitcher, Mihashi. And that's on Nishiura side of things.

I actually don't see a lot of people going into pro baseball in this end. Like I see a lot of players in Daiya no Ace becoming pros but I barely see anybody in Oofuri who desires a place in the international stage. The most interesting part of Oofuri was sports psychology, written by someone who knows said psychology.

Just because they want to go to Nationals and play on the said stage does not negate their later pursuits in life.

Kuroko no Basuke: Surprisingly, none of the MiraGen made on the list of going pro, not even Aomine. The only character I see going pro would be Kagami Taiga and even then, that's dubious. Just because they love basketball does not mean they wish to pursue internationally like Hinata and Kageyama who think of volleyball almost all the time. Seriously, Kageyama would break if he was never ever to play volleyball again. I'm pretty sure the MiraGen and Kagami could live without basketball. This had been my mindset well before I saw the jobs like Firefighter Kagami or Kindergarten Teacher Kuroko or Pro Shogi player Akashi or Pilot Kise. Seriously, I thought Murasakibara would be much happier baking in his little patisserie than he would be playing basketball professionally.

Yowamushi Pedal: Like the Haikyuu examples, there are a lot of people that have the potential to go pro. I don't know about the future goals of these characters unless they truly honestly love the sport to the point they want to travel around the world to participate. I have no fucking clue until we get to the third year. I can see Naruko and Iwaizumi going pro. Onoda became a cyclist because it brings him friends. I can see him continuing to cycle in university and in his free time exempting the time fanboying over anime. I'm pretty sure he will still watch cycling and communicate with his friends but I don't see him pursuing a life cycling on the more international

...At least, I know that they would refuse the doping culture prevalent in the professional road racing sport. The characters would know from right and wrong although I do see them coming down with peer pressure and actually take it but utterly refuse a doping program. Even if pro cycling is getting better these days with Lance Armstrong and his former teammates hanging as a warning sign, there would still be the peer pressure of stupidity. Steroids are not going to make them better. The point of sports anime is that your spirit would strive you to go over the limit, reality be damned. Even if it means breaking your body.

Whether it was the national court or it would be the international games, I'm sure you will do well. Shock the world with your unpredictability that I love so much~! Silence those who don't expect Japan to make a humongous comeback with more than determined than ever. Isn't sports anime, across many tackling of genres like slice-of-life or just upfront Japanese spirit, is just that?

Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics

Like that note said, this version is different from others. 

This is not a post to dissuade readers from ABO. This is not a slam about ABO's inherent -isms. I'm actually don't know how to categorize this post. On some level, it's commentary but also not since, despite some details, I don't actually care much of this.

Here is a rule of any fandom and simply casual fans, no gatekeeping: do not ruin others' enjoyment because of the flaws in said thing. You can make them understand the inherent -isms but you must not disallow their enjoyment and creativity. Because believe it or not, ABO is a niche and on the Internet only.

If you enjoy it, good for you! We need less hate - understand that I did not say criticism when it can be well-deserved - and more hope and confidence and love. Spite can be a good motivator for good storytelling or just making things right. I'm pretty sure in the VLD fandom now, there is a lot of spite to make rewrites and fix-its. If you had spite, good for you I guess... Just remember that you need love and heart to go with it.

Heck, the only reason I ever read ABO in the first place is two things: worldbuilding and mpreg. I know that Vulcans' Pon Farr is one of the seeds that were laid in the soil to allow Omegaverse to grow in the first place.

I want to point out one thing: It's an Internet creation. It's a freaking niche despite its seeming popularity. I find it hilarious that people tried to stop it as if it's a real thing that's spreading in the real world. Like people would go out and seek ABO when there's porn. I know this because I know people would seek out porn than a porn-fic of ABO Spirk. I don't react much to smut anyway - stone-faced! - and porn just makes me feel queasy because regardless of actors, they are still having sex in front of me and I don't want to see anyone's sexual congress. When like all things in fanworks, it's a fan creation that somehow became reasonably popular on the Internet.

For me, I was personally surprised at the sudden spike of mpreg. I want to read mpreg and the good ones the better. So what if it's ABO? I just want to read mpreg.

There is nothing wrong to have males in female problems and females in male problems. There is nothing wrong with exploring that. Sometimes, it might even be cathartic like writing pregnancy issues, the ones who are not smooth by any stretch of the definition and having a complicated birth.

There is nothing wrong with exploration. I think that's a major excitement about ABO. There is catharsis in fiction that many find appealing to just release in the malleable world they can create.

ABO is very malleable. It can be whatever you make of it. You can make it smash patriarchy or explore patriarchy and try to break out of it. You can make it similar enough to the real-world issues of sexism and homophobia - note that these are the two -isms lobbed at ABO by critics and those who hate it. There are no strict templates, especially on the Internet where free speech runs rampant.

I think that's one of the appeals of it: catharsis, not just sexually, but also reflecting ours. That is what I think fiction ultimately is, a reflection of our reality, no matter how distorted and crazy our imagination can get.

I would defend people's catharsis in fiction. In some shape or form, it is escapism as well as releasing emotions by getting invested in the characters and plot.

But there is a line and that is saying these fictional characters are hurt in some way or form. Stop saying that these guys need to be protected. It's okay if you like them or hate them or anything. Just stop saying these fictional characters has rights like human beings. I rolled my eyes whenever that happened that look these insults or criticism is hurting the character. That is deflecting criticism and not a good way to do it.

Not to mention the consent issues thing with the inherent rapey nature of ABO. So yeah, people can either just make it porny because that's all there is to explore their sexuality. Better that than hurting actual people with rape. There is a difference between a rape fantasy - which is quite common - and committing the crime of rape. One explores sex and the other hurts. Rape is horrid and disgusting. It's after all the worst possible crime of sexual crimes.

I'm always sex-positive and would defend people's blooming sexuality. However, I do not want to know what they do in the bedroom. As long as they don't hurt - too much; I know BDSM and other pain kinks of every variety. People do get off in so many strange ways I'm frankly desensitized about whatever crazy kinks you enjoy. I do not want to know anything. - and/or kill their companion, then it's all good. Practice safe sex which includes aftercare as well as knows your sex ed! The last thing I need is to have my brother worry about getting his girlfriend pregnant again.

Is it going off-topic?

It's not like it's going to be a part of actual porn that is known to the world. Is everyone in the world knows about ABO and would contribute it in some form? Are you nuts? People have more to worry than something the Internet creates. People are more inclined to know memes than something porny. People are far more inclined to find porn than an Internet created porn thing. The Internet already has porn and fanfiction porn of ABO is just a scratch on the porn hell. It's not even a dent on the actual porn that exists. There are porn sites for the love of Godoka! Porn-fics about ships are probably the 'tamest' of the actual porn out there. Seriously, why the fuck would they get off on porn fics when porn videos on all its visual glory would suffice? I know this because I highly doubt my brother and his friends would seek fanfiction of Spirk porn. I would seek it out when the mood gets to me but I know the general preference was to have actual porn. Actual porn from the industry. People are far more likely to know porn - with escorts and the red light district and the x-rated stuff. Seriously, why the hell are they going to look at fanfiction as some sort of alternative unless it is better there and they can explore their sexuality through malleable characters whom they identify or reinterpret to better satisfy their urges? I prefer for them to explore sexuality through fiction.

From the way I see it especially since ABO is a niche unto itself, porn is not going to go into the plot at all. Many people including Lindsay Ellis preferred their plotless porn. Cinema Snob who reviewed porn had so much poorly written porn that won't win any Academy Awards any time soon. And he reviewed the bad ones.

If you want good porn with plot, just search for it. I'm not gonna recommend any because I don't wanna know.

Just that there is porn that one can find online. Without a credit card or account even. I know this because the sites I go around on has porn ads. And that's the site where I generally try to find doujinshi.

Seriously, there's porn that people are more aware of than something the Internet created. Look, even though I barely understand the current lingo of the Internet now - salty, tea, etc - I'm pretty sure ABO would just end up as one of those things that the general public who aren't involved with fandoms care about. That is just how inconsequential ABO actually is, just as much as shipping. People are aware of shipping and fandoms in general. Niches of niches aren't gonna be well-known. Modern coffee au's - I prefer tea houses - are kinda known to the point beginner typically are coffee shops. They get the basic idea of what fandom does with cons and selling and the works. I think people are aware of conventions most of the time, seeing my cousin - who isn't the biggest anime ever while her boyfriend of nearly three years is - went to Anime Expo and bought various Sailor Moon merch including the purses I currently using.

It might seem like I'm defending ABO. Honestly, I don't care about it either way since it's something just so Internet it's barely a blip on my radar. Hell, even now when ABO is reasonably popular for stories to pop up. I don't look much into the idea of ABO beyond what I wanted and that is mpreg. I don't think a lot of people would care much about it when they just wanna have creativity. If it's ABO, then that's great. Just don't hurt other people for something you don't enjoy. Think of it as food for Godoka's sake. I prefer to eat mildly spicy food at best but I won't touch spicy dishes unless my life depends on it. It's not quite as popular as coffee shops but still enough to garner fascination. This is not a commentary on ABO or anything like it. I mentioned what it is but I doubt this post is commentary. It's just my perception of ABO and what do people think they are, fighting against this when we should change society first? Even if it's a slow pace? Because humanity changing is going to be a snail's pace to the finish line. It's going to take a long, long time for any media to move towards respectful representation without all the toxic tropes such as Bury Your Gays and Kill the Black Guy First. Because from what I know about humanity, it would take generations for habits to phase out and in.

Y'know, before the eradication of humanity via some catastrophic disaster of global warming or our planet-killing us in god knows how many years or space killing us with one big meteor.

Hopefully, humans get their act together before their extinction.

At times like these where political turmoil is so rampant even in social circles in social media, I would honestly want to eat good food. And one drink of alcohol. Because I'd rather not get drunk no matter what. Seriously, I made it a point to eat lots before drinking alcohol. Even visiting something that specialized in alcohol like wine or beer, I'd prefer to eat before going in there. Even if there are serving something good to pair with it. I'm craving sushi and octopus. I don't care if it's octopus pasta or takoyaki or tako tamago or tako sushi or tako sashimi. I just want octopus and sushi. I also want eel, either Taiwanese eel noodles or Japanese grilled eel or just even eel sushi. I tasted eel sushi once on a family gathering - as in my entire extended family at least located in the state of California - went out to eat dinner. And those are rare. I loved eel sushi ever since and would try to get my hands on it if I can, grilled or sushi/sashimi. Please, note that I will eat sushi a few times in my life because just how filling it felt. If there are Japanese food I would happily eat in a restaurant and ask for seconds, it's soba, preferably cold. Because if it's hot like in a soup, then I won't ask for seconds. On street food like any of the -yakis, I'll prefer to eat them once in a while. I really want to try the savory treats at a Japanese festival more than I do the sweet ones.

All I want to do before going to eat my cravings, I'll find a way to kill the entire ant colony. The ant invasion is not fun, especially when my dad kept using ineffective methods to kill them. His methods would be fine if it's one or two but not when there is a large number that kept coming back.

...Almost my entire family is in the medical business. My brother planned to be a dentist and many are nurses. There are a couple of doctors - some actually went to pursue other jobs like in the computer or white-collar jobs. I'm an odd one with my pursuit to become a published writer.

I am worried about Recovery Girl and other healing quirked Heroes in MHA world. Medical is a highly specialized field. Hell, there is a reason why Doctor Strange himself is a neurosurgeon and not a pediatrician. There is a reason why midwifery is different from fucking EMT.

We don't even know if any of the healing Heroes actually have a degree when the medical business has a hierarchy. I know this because my cousins discussed it during a family gathering when they tell each other about their experiences in the workplace. There is a difference between magic and actual Quirks. Like FMA, Quirks has its own rules. Magic required suspension of disbelief which is why I can suspend my disbelief about Sun Flames' healing capabilities in the hands of Mafia and it's freaking magic too. Quirks are not magic. They flat-out told us it's biological and just because it's powerful does not mean you can abuse it in the medical workplace. It's the same thing of having the power to abuse your patient just because you can have that power.

I do think of them either a curse or blessing that I prefer to live in a world that doesn't regulate Heroes and Villians like a long-drawn-out soap opera that I can just skip.

I want to think Heroes as superheroes but it failed so much since Heroes are just as the cause of problems in the MHA. I understand imperfection and all that but Heroes shouldn't be held up as a paragon. I believed Spiderman I in Miles Morales' world in Into the Spider-verse is a genuine paragon who is kind and willing to help whatever he can including saving an innocent life. I believed All Might because he is genuinely kind to help out everyone he can within his vicinity. Remember his first appearance was to stop a robber and a would-be killer.

Now just because Recovery Girl has a powerful healing Quirk does not give her the right to have her be the only doctor in the vicinity of UA.

Let's not to mention that Recovery Girl operated on Izuku without his mother's permission. Like, do the Japanese nurses at school operate on their children like it's normal or something? And without the parent or guardian saying so? Because in America, we need consent for underage patients in hospitals. America's health system needs major reforms but at least they have consent forms for parents/guardians about major medical attention like surgeries. I think most of the world used consent forms including JAPAN! So to not have Recovery Girl did not tell his mom, even if by text or quick phone call to get consent. We still don't know if the poor mother even knows about the operation at all. For all she knows, the wound was just a broken limb than something that should take serious medical attention and therefore long rest.

I have a lot of bad things to say about Recovery Girl's refusal to attend to Izuku. Izuku, the same self-destructive guy who was perfectly willing to break his body again and again. She broke the Hippocratic Oath! That is so goddamn important when you are a doctor! If it was to teach Izuku to take care of himself, that failed miserably because the family that specialized in medical business would not take kindly to that because for one, they express concerns and one aunt properly diagnosed carpal tunnel which then my family doctor said it was. So yeah, it's very useful to have a medical family, particularly during flu season where they would then direct us free shots or they would give it themselves.

I'm sorry but I don't trust Recovery Girl to come near me for anything horrible. I'll prefer Ryohei's Sun Flames than the first aid that Recovery Girl should have. If I trust a vigilante over a Hero, then that's pretty bad.

I don't even think she had a degree. I know this because my family has medical degrees hanging on the walls. My cousins outright discussed just how long they had been studying and interning and whatever to get their degrees and get their jobs as doctors. I think she was taught with first-aid classes, probably an EMT job at best. I know this because my family spent years in other states! I haven't seen two cousins in years until recently when they graduated! When I was in middle school, I haven't seen my eldest cousin and my aunt in some years when they went to Massachusetts for her pharmaceutical studies! My cousin flat-out stated that he planned to go to Arizona for more med training which in the end, he did not go but another cousin did - the other cousin who I haven't seen in years! Hell, one of my cousins - again the other one who I haven't seen in years since she been living in Chicago, studying - had the misfortune to be in the place of two hurricanes when she was doing work! Yeah, that's why I don't trust Recovery Girl.

Why study the important things when you have a powerful Quirk? Hell, I don't think she even has a license to practice like my family had in spades.

The most logical and realistic version for Recovery Girl to go door to door in hospitals was if she had the license to practice. It would be weird but strangely and not strangely, Quirks top all logic in MHA apparently. Strong Quirk of heroic or villainous variety, you are still subjected to what the Hero Industry placed on society to the point of illogical insanity. How should Quirks decide a person? It conquered human decency clearly as bullying is so apparent in Izuku and Shinsou's cases.

I'm pretty sure Akiko Yosano in BSD has a license to practice, not just given her history with Doctor Mori. No sane detective agency, especially guided by good and moral leaders, would let an under-qualified doctor in their reach. Unlike Recovery Girl, I feel like I can trust my lives with Akiko and even fucking Mori! Unless Horikoshi showed Recovery Girl with certifications, then I won't say much more about it.

I already have lots of misgivings about the Hero industry beyond the obvious analyses the series already made. I would have preferred to think Heroes as an auxiliary force for the Police had there is something like that. Think SWAT. I mean this is what the Heroes are in Tiger and Bunny.

Y'know it's bad that I prefer to live in Sternbild than MHA world. The Hero industry in MHA world is just making discrimination worse and probably a metaphor for the Japanese in some form or another.

I do think Horikoshi is commentating on the Japanese with his story, even if his story is more realistic and hopeful.

I just hope that my feelings on the Hero Industry aren't unjustified because I would utterly refuse to live that world. Hell, I'll rather be a mafiosa in the Vongola or someone experiencing one of the worst atrocities at the World Government than live in a world of pointless Heroes and Villians.

It just left way too many rooms for speculation. Given how the world is grounded, I highly doubt Recovery Girl actually is an Omni-disciplinary doctor. Based on her refusal alone to treat Izuku anymore, she's just unethical. I can trust Shinra Kishitani because at least he's a prodigy who knows what the fuck he is doing. And he's an underground doctor! He performed plastic surgery as well as being the primary doctor for his friends! I trust the doctors like Chopper and Kureha in One Piece more than I do Recovery Girl. Because they have to be Omni-disciplinary doctors just for the world they live in! The MHA world is grounded so, therefore, Recovery Girl needs to study pre-med in order to get licenses to practice.

...Yeah, my family being in the medical business made me wary about living there. I do not want to be tended by a Hero who only has training in first aid and at best an EMT.

Yeah, even if the MHA world is progressive to allow women and won't put them down them for reasonable goals such as helping family and bringing that family to a Hawaiian vacation and have an FTM Hero as well as open opportunities - disregarding quirk discrimination. I'm talking about POC and LGBTQ here. - in both villain and hero communities, I won't live there until the Heroes and Villains are reformed.

Seriously, I'd rather live in reformed Vongola and World Government than I would MHA right now.

Seriously, if you want to pick a fictional world to live in happily - like retirement happy, I'll choose the Pokeani or Pokemon world. Aside from the Legendary Pokemon's garnering of their elements, I'll be happy tending to Pokemon in a Daycare or training and spoiling my Pokemon. I'll also be a happy camper about researching legends and myths.

Spiteful Finales

Y'know, I haven't seen an ending quite like VLD since Bleach's finale. Kubo wrote it so spitefully that it's amazing the live-action movie turned out as well as it did. Hell, as I recall, many burned their copies of the manga when the finale released.

It was that bad.

While Naruto's finale was bad - I'm a NaruSasu shipper to the death and a bit of NaruSaku but I don't see the appeal of NaruHina at all but that's not my main gripes with the story -, I'll put them on ignorance than malice. From what I saw, the poor guy was in a bad spot, not just as a mangaka, but having to deal with higher-ups clashing with popularity unlike sticking to the story in his mind like Oda. He wasn't even too involved with the Boruto at all. It doesn't excuse him but still, it explains why everything was so weird in Part II.

As for Bleach, everything had been failing since the ending of the Soul Society arc. Only watch/read up to the finale of that arc, fellas. It became increasingly clear that Kubo was more about the rule of cool than telling a meaningful story. Then came the ending... It was so malicious that I was admittedly shocked.

VLD's finale was just as malicious. There are no character arcs and story arcs concluded satisfactorily. The characters aren't treated with love and respect. Hell, even the villains aren't treated right because they bought them back for no other reason than malice. All their bigoted thoughts and -isms were reinforced with what they show. Seriously, blaming Allura for her people's genocide and 'redeeming' via sacrifice. Lance became a farmer with no dreams of his coming true or even helping the next gen or anything meaningful to his character; the racist implications of Latino immigrants doing nothing but menial labor in farms... Hunk is now a chef; who the fuck cares about what's more about his character; he's a fat character who loves food above all else including his girlfriend! Shiro is nothing! Nothing! Keith is somehow perfect but even then, his character is just nothing in the end! Allura is reduced to nothing! Lotor is reduced to melted mush therefore nothing! Lotor was abused and there was a possibility of redemption there but no, he has to die! For nothing! His corpse was shown for none other than pointless shock value! There was literally no point to show such a gruesome scene! Remember everything must be important! All these characters, with so much potential, are reduced to nothing! These guys are just puppets on a plot that is far beyond the writer and showrunners' competence. Not just the main characters but also the new characters the show can't help but introduce! So many characters and plot points are abandoned just as they were mentioned! Holy moly Philemon!

I am in awe at the incredibly bad writing. The show, in my opinion, had bad writing for a long time since S2. And in two years, VLD showed just how much malice is in the writing and what you should not do.

Now, I would not mind Lance being a farmer had there been something natural and real about it. But there is none. Lance was forced into it because he became a non-character with no arc to speak of. It's just malice and intentional to boot since they reduced Lance to nothing more than someone with no dreams and heart. To the showrunners - remember the showrunners wrote the finale - Lance is someone to be pitied. There is nothing satisfying about it. Not when you know about Lance and his insecurities. He was just nothing in the end.

All these characters, even the ones who supposed working on humanitarian stuff, are not satisfying to their arcs. Nothing indicates how close and trusting a team they are. Listen, I watched Macross Frontier, I saw these guys interact with each other and how much they trust each other's back. VLD's team did not have that closeness. Seriously, that potential closeness made its final evolution as the distance in the end. Heck, it's implied that in the finale, they haven't seen each other in years! Found family trope turned into isolation where none of them are a team.

It's even worse when you considered mecha anime. In mecha anime, they showed trust and a team. They separate duty and friendship. On the fucking field where it matters, these characters knew to trust the other's skills for their lives. These were the horrors of war, depicting deaths that people won't get over easily else they would commit suicide one way or another. VLD failed as a mecha from the very beginning and that's not getting into mecha tropes and themes! As a mecha fan, VLD makes me cry in front of my mecha anime collection and my Gunpla. Then again, the showrunners especially Lauren Montgomery made it a point they don't even like the genre anyway, thereby bringing nothing to the table from an outsider's perspective.

There is something there for duty - Keith and Shiro but all that fails when you consider what path they should take in terms of writing. Instead, there is nothing for them when they are so isolated from one another.

The shipping is probably the least of the VLD fandom's problems. But the very fact how poorly written every endgame turned out, it's horrific. Seriously, seeing Lance and Allura makes my skin crawl because it's not mutual. And they didn't even have a happily ever after nor did Lance ever moved on since it's implied that he never did, unlike Sokka. Shiro and that Curtis fella did not have a natural development. The closest thing to a happily ever after for any pairing is Lotura and that's poorly written since there are contradictory events that showed Allura cared little for him.

It makes the hopes of having an m/m human kiss on telly rang much more hollow because it was tacked on. I would not mind it if there were natural development like just have them go on a date, not a marriage or show them talking, but considering the show's tendency to not have natural interactions in the core cast especially when those who didn't interact with each other much - look at Shiro and Lance - it's just bad. Don't expand your cast unless your new cast members impact and change your character's interactions in a totally new way. Just look at the introduction of Toph for Godoka's sake! Notably, this is one of SU's failings since intros of new characters did not change them in any major way. Even when story arcs forced change, it doesn't feel natural. If there were change, these people become less than themselves and more of assholes really since the writers seemed more focus on deconstruction than writing a good story. Not even Evangelion did this!

VLD really is not a good show in term of writing. I'll prefer to go through Bleach's downfall of using the rule of cool than VLD's increasing use of not caring for anything! The story was everywhere and the crew looked like they did the minimum of the job in order to get away from the workplace! At least, Kubo's story resembled a plot!

If the behind the scenes mess with the showrunners true, then that's pretty horrible. Especially since these showrunners make their fellow colleagues in ATLA/LOK days much more professional. Dave Filoni, Aaron Ehasz, Tim Hedrick... These guys aren't perfect but they are better than Joaquin Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery. The finale alone showed just how horrible their writing can be as in not taking in the potential the story has. VLD's showrunners should never ever take the position of EP ever again, even a co-EP. They should have stayed in their director of storyboarding chairs like good little dogs.

If those two did throw out your outline? WHAT THE FUCK?! Are you kidding me? As a writer myself, I wrote my own outline myself in order to keep track of everything and make sure everything is in place correctly and written well. Finalize everything first before you do anything regarding writing! Do not do what Rian Johnson did with JJ Abrams' Star Wars! I may have mixed feelings with The Last Jedi but to hear that Rian Johnson threw out the original script was horrifying! Kennedy, you should never ever allow anybody to throw away the outline to something large as Star Wars and going from scratch in each movie! Do what the MCU is doing with their outline! They changed and moved their movies and ideas around and it's clearly adaptable! It's not adaptable, starting from scratch each and every time! At least the Star Wars prequels, that should only be allowed in better writers' hands just like the original, had an outline due to George Lucas' mind of the timeline and how everything came to be in the original! Starting from scratch each time is not good!

Yeah, even the Stars Wars prequels are starting to look like gold next to VLD as an American sci-fi to watch! And I don't hate the prequels nor do I hate Jar Jar Binks. At least, Jar Jar contributes to something, unlike say Romelle. Romelle did not contribute to anything big because her plot made little sense as does everything else! She's just there to say Lotor is evil and Alteans is alive and she just disappeared from the plot after she had Lance and Allura go on a date! Jar Jar Binks contributes more to the plot than Romelle ever did! There are so many things wrong in the story itself, not just structurally but thematically! The potential theme of the found family turned into isolation!

But in the end, it's clear spite was a prime motivator for poor storytelling according to Joaquin Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery. Just what the heck is that line of thinking? That is not sincere like the bad directors of the world like Tommy Wiseau and Neil Breen. Like those guys aren't progressive like JDS and LM, but at least they are sincere but completely incompetent; their sincerity comes through in the filmmaking, less so the thin plot. JDS and LM are incompetent storytellers but their sincerity is much sharper in their bad storytelling's alarming messages.

If you want to enjoy VLD in its greatest form just like Naruto in Part I and Bleach with Soul Society Arc, I would recommend season one and that's about it. After going through reviewing the series again, I decided that season two definitely need work as well as season three and five. Even the worst seasons - four, seven, and eight - are where the show's cracks are shown with lights flashing. When even Code Geass R2 covered up their cracks better due to Goro Taniguchi, then VLD showed so many cracks and injuries that it all falls apart like somebody struggling to duct-tape a vase. Seriously, even KHR is better written than this and that story has truly interesting ideas.

Joaquin Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, I do not want to hate you. I won't hate you. Your last employer, Dreamworks, is burying your work so fast with little fanfare while your show would still be up on Netflix.

What I will say is this: From the bottom of my heart, I hope you can change your malice and your ignorance to better understand why you hurt your audience so badly with such vindication. I hope you expand your worldview to understand others' feelings and interpretations. I sincerely believe you can become better.

On a side note, is the Voltron franchise cursed or something? No matter what the interpretation, even the potentially well-written ones like VLD - which turned out to be too cynical - turned out to be crap. Like the Fantastic Four's four movies under Fox, they all have varied badness to it, some good and imagination, but overall pretty bad. It's just sad that Voltron would just fall in the wayside until somebody reboot it.

Gundam has one dud as far as I know unlike Voltron's many, many duds. Voltron would look like a bad piece of horribly made baked bland sponge cake in comparison to Gundam's wonderful chocolate cake.

I will make this say: Even if it's an unpopular opinion if you enjoy it, good! Your opinion does not negate others. Even if there were problems, in the end, you are still allowed to enjoy it. The last thing this fandom is more negativity when the ending did not satisfy casual viewers - like me - and everybody in the fandom who invested madly into this.

Listen, at least Sherlock ended with that Christmas special. That is better than what S3-4 given us.

Listen, while I don't see the best in HP epilogue finale, at least we could have the story. We could also ignore that Cursed Child stupidity.

At least, Katekyo Hitman Reborn ended in an open note. And there were no pairings to be had which is good though since the series concentrated less on that as the story went on. At least, there is something there.

If you enjoy anything of this - including badly written finales of Godoka knows what - then that's good! The last thing anybody needs is the ruination of the enjoyment of others. I don't hate on my family for playing Frozen songs even when I made my dislike for it pretty clearly on multiple occasions.

Look, I hardly cared about what Word of God says anyway. This is well before Harry Potter, need I remind you. This had been my mindset since I started watching shows since I was a kid. I don't know if there were any Word of God in Sesame Street but I hardly cared about that. The only reason I found out Julia was autistic was the media around it. Seriously, when I was watching anime like Pokemon and YuGiOh, do you think I have access to what Takeshi Shudo have to say? Do I care about what George Lucas or Gene Roddenberry had to say about their respective franchises? No, I hardly cared at all. I hardly cared about the Word of God anyway so... basically, I technically already practicing both the authorial intent and Death of the Author. Like I am not ignoring authors, but I made it a point that they don't bother me since I don't keep up with interviews anyway.

Let it be known I know how to separate fanon and canon. Headcanon falls into fanon, alright? It's just canon haven't debunked it.

I know when I am an author, I am going to have to go to functions and panels if I was asked. I prefer not to say anything about the stories because I want my story to say it for me as well as making sure I want to explore it to the fullest potential the awful issues in reality. I know that if I am going to have my work out there in the world, it's going to be under so much scrutiny. I am not expecting fame or even fans since all I just want to do is write.

...Do you know what I hate in the current trends of fandom? The ludicrous focus on ships as if they mean anything more and the policing. In Tumblr, I saw people fighting against the existence of HamNoir and MilesGwen, policing what people like and enjoy.

You are not doing God's work. You are going about in current fandom's trends about sub-communities in fandom, imploring ships that aren't healthy or did not have anything to do with social justice like POC and LGBTQ is bad. You can say that the ships of HamNoir were an example of white m/m that was popular in either canon or fanon. It's similar to what happened to Hux/Kylo where there was the popular ship of Finn/Poe.

You must never ever police ships as if they mean anything more than that. They are called sub-communities for a reason. Do I have to pull out other fandoms again!? You can examine what they are reflecting about the world but you must never ever ruin others' enjoyment because you don't. It's called crackshipping and shipping just because you like it for some other reason. Till this day, I have no clue why I'm drawn to Harry/Severus but I still like it all the same. But do I hammer anybody over the head to ship as I do? Never.

These guys who shipped HamNoir and Hux/Kylo and MilesGwen aren't hitting anybody over the fucking head that you are supposed to ship this because it's healthy. They are doing it because it's fun. In fact, I don't see them hitting them over the heads of anybody who don't ship them to ship it as good as they do. Why the hell are you bothering these shippers about their tastes and likes when you should do the smart thing and don't bother them or better yet don't bash them as if they are the bane of your fandom? If somehow HamNoir got as popular as Hux/Kylo, do you think that it would stop?

No, stop it with your nonsense about what to ship and what not to ship. I hate policing in fandoms so very much. Every time I see it from fandom shipping or anything else, I am questioning their logic about something as trivial as ships.

You can examine the mentality of a popular white m/m ship and why it kept emerging. I'm pretty sure there are already theses about them in Tumblr but yelling to people about why you can't ship this or that is not going to make it better. However, you must never ever police anybody about their likes and dislikes in a fandom. A fandom where people are supposed to explore and have fun freely. Fandom is supposed to be fun.

Fandoms have always been bad and toxic. But this behavior of moral superiority - it's a bad guy/good girl relationship, it's incest, it's a white m/m couple, it's not a POC couple or an actual LGBT character paired up with their SO, there's an age difference between Spideypool, etc. - just because you don't like it makes it less enjoyable for people to come together and have fun. There is a reason why I hate Tumblr very much.

You can have your progressiveness but the first thing you must not do is ruin others' enjoyment and what you must do is differentiating what the actual issue is at hand. The thought that footballs players' refusal to bend down to an anthem is somehow messing with the actual game is stupid. As if these guys who refuse to bend down to an anthem would ruin football. Focus on these footballers refusing to bend down and listen to them, instead of blaming them for ruining football for some whatever reason. The latter is just so insane it's amazing humanity survived this long.

I hate how the military became involved in our everyday lives in America that Americans don't blink at the thought of an aerial show or a cartoon show using propaganda to promote their side of the war without any sign of irony. I'm anti-war but it's difficult at this time especially with today's politics. The military isn't ruining sports. These two entities became inseparable that it would take time to pull them apart and keep them apart.

Every time I see the sentiment of policing ships due to POC/LGBT - like I get it but you don't have the right to bash on people for shipping something you don't like - on the stupid site known as Tumblr, I resist urging to scream into my Mochitalia plushies. Why the hell are you fighting against something as nonsensical as shipping in fandoms when the general public would hardly care about the sort of thing? Do I have to pull out VLD, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and so forth? Seriously, do I have to pull out famous people online who looked like they hardly cared about shipping? I don't care about ships nowadays; all I care about is how they are written in the show, not about making and scouring fanworks about my favorite ships.
